Credit Card Pin Code Overload
25th July 2007
A very large number of Britons are being confused when they reach the Chip and Pin payment machines, because they can not remember their credit card or debit card Pin numbers. A survey by Abbey has found that some 22 million credit card and debit card owners have forgotten their Pin recently.
According to the survey around 16 million have admitted they write their Pin numbers down on a piece of paper in order to avoid embarrassment in the future and alarmingly some 2.4 million people in the UK keep this piece of paper in their wallets.
"With many of us holding more and more pieces of plastic in our wallets the challenge of remembering all those Pin codes is getting greater, but we really do urge you to try and commit them to memory rather than write them down, otherwise it's like signing a blank cheque for fraudsters" said an Abbey spokesperson.
If you are having trouble remembering your credit card Pin number, you can change the Pin number to something more memorable to you at most cash machines.
